I'd never have predicted that so many internet spaceship egomaniacs, and FOTM bandwagoners could have led to this situation.
I am, truly, shocked.

PL have maintained an elitist, closed attitude despite knowing what Dominion meant for their favoured tactic of AOE DD'ing or sniping in the sidelines of other peoples battles.
Well, guess what - when you have a closed, elitist alliance and the bitter vets stop logging in, you have a problem. They didn't learn from BoB's mistakes, despite the Dominion writing on the wall.
You need a constant supply of fresh, enthusiastic blood in any alliance to keep things alive, and you need a leadership structure which supports that. PL had neither, and now they're going to die. They deserve too, and they probably know they deserve too, because despite being immature and egoistic idiots for the most part, they are not entirely stupid

IT may be accelerating your death, but did not cause it.
Elitism in internet spaceships never works for long. It shuts out enthusiastic newcomers who are needed to keep things fresh and vibrant over time. Your alliance culture actively put off people from raising an hand and trying to develop into the FC's you now need. FOTM semi-actives and minor eve-o celebs don't really count.
Bored veterans are the death of many corps and alliances. It happened to BoB, it's happening to you, and it will happen to anyone else who adopts the PL model of elitism and unforgiving criticism.

Originally by: Shamis Orzoz I think you are mistaking elitism for just not wanting to be that big.
I'm not. There is a difference between the number of 'pilots' in an alliance, and the number of 'active pilots' in an alliance. Your focus on slow, highly selective, organic growth (or whatever you want to call it) essentially meant that you had increasingly less 'active pilots', despite the gradual incline of total numbers. So far, so obvious.
What compounded this is your openly elitist outlook and recruitment approach - which inevitably meant that the larger percentage of players joining you have been in-game for many years, and are thus much more likely to be less active, or plain old 'done it all before' bored.
Bored veterans don't drive alliances forward, they don't make the game fun, they don't encourage participation, they don't have the willpower to drive campaigns and get results. And the many, many unchecked egos in your alliance created an intimidating environment for any would-be FC to develop their skills, no matter your intentions.
